Psychological Testing
Psychological testing services are available for both children and adults and are conducted in a supportive, comfortable environment by a licensed psychologist.

The Challenges of Diagnosis
Nearly everyone experiences attention difficulties at times. Trouble concentrating can result from many different conditions. Because these conditions often produce similar symptoms, identifying the underlying cause is essential for choosing the most effective treatment.
Many ADHD assessments rely primarily on behavioral checklists or a brief computerized attention test. While these tools provide valuable information, they primarily identify whether attention difficulties are present—not necessarily why they are occurring.
Tests We Offer
ADHD for Children and Adults - Ages 6+
ADHD testing goes beyond a simple questionnaire at a doctor’s office. We take a comprehensive look at attention, learning, emotions, behavior, and development to identify ADHD and rule out other concerns, such as learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, or behavioral challenges. This helps ensure an accurate diagnosis and the most effective support plan.
Intellectual Functioning and ID Waiver - Ages 6+
Intelligence testing provides a detailed look at thinking and problem-solving skills, including verbal reasoning, visual-spatial skills, memory, processing speed, and overall cognitive ability. Results help identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses and can guide school, work, treatment, or accommodation planning. Additional testing can be added to meet the requirements for Iowa’s Intellectual Disability Waiver Testing.
Bariatric and Pre-surgical Evaluations - Ages 14+
A bariatric or pre-surgical evaluation helps determine emotional readiness and support needs before surgery. It reviews mental health, eating patterns (bariatric), coping skills, expectations, and plans for long-term lifestyle changes.
Cognitive Functioning -Ages 12+
Cognitive functioning testing evaluates thinking skills such as memory, attention, language, processing speed, and visual problem-solving. This type of testing is often used to better understand cognitive changes and identify concerns related to dementia, brain injury, or other conditions affecting thinking and daily functioning. (Tests available RBANS and WMS)
Personality Testing and Diagnostic Clarification - Ages 14+
Personality testing helps us understand patterns in how a person thinks, feels, relates to others, and handles stress. It can help clarify diagnosis and concerns such as mood, anxiety, coping style, behavior patterns, and treatment needs. Personality testing is also sometimes required by employers such as law enforcement or the military for pre-employment screening. (Tests available MMPI and MCMI)
Adult Autism Evaluation -Ages 18+
Adult autism testing explores social communication, sensory differences, routines, interests, and lifelong patterns. It can help clarify whether autism explains current or past challenges and guide helpful supports.
Learning Disability Testing - Ages 4+
Learning disability testing looks at academic skills such as reading, writing, and math, along with thinking and processing skills. It helps identify learning differences and guide school, testing, or workplace accommodations. This testing is most often not covered by insurance and will require private pay.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do a comprehensive evaluation instead of looking at just one thing?
Research shows that behavioral rating scales (such as the Conners Rating Scales) and computerized attention tests (such as the Conners CPT, TOVA, QbCheck, and IVA-2) are valuable tools, but neither is accurate enough to diagnose ADHD on its own. Both can miss individuals who truly have ADHD and may also identify attention problems caused by anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, learning disorders, or other conditions.
A comprehensive evaluation integrates multiple sources of information to improve diagnostic accuracy and provide a more complete understanding of your strengths, challenges, and treatment needs.
What activities are included in a comprehensive evaluation?
Evaluations include:
-
Comprehensive clinical interview
-
Standardize Cognitive (Intelligence) Testing
-
Computerized Attention Testing (CPT)
-
Validated Rating Scales
-
Integrated Clinical Interpretation
